Optima Maths

Optima Maths provides a curriculum from Foundation right through to the end of Year 6 that develops children’s mathematical skills and knowledge through prioritising their thorough understanding of core mathematical concepts and providing extensive opportunities for them to generalise and apply their skills to a wide range of problems and investigations.

In designing Optima Maths we identified the mathematical equivalent of phonological awareness in reading which is a core skill that is seen to be fundamental to pupils’ progress in learning to read.

This resulted in us designing a curriculum that is underpinned by three core skills and led to development of a generalisable strategy that enables children to balance any equations.
